Grace is trying to uncover the reason her mother ran away from her husband and children, something that doesn't happen with in Amish communities. During this time Grace becomes friends with an outsider. Grace also is struggling with what might become of her life if her mother never returns. Will she be a "Maidel" all her life, taking care of her father and her siblings or will she marry?

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are true to life. This second book of the Seasons of Grace has a few unsuspecting twists. The ending leaves the reader with a surprise. I am so looking forward to the next book. Author Beverly Lewis knows how to keep her readers turning the pages. Her stories are thought provoking and inspiring.
